About Senthil Nathan

Senthil is one of Asia’s leading voices on responsible sourcing, workplace dignity, and business ethics. Born into a smallholder farming family in rural South India, he was the first in his family to complete high school and university, before going on to work in frontline and leadership roles with agrifood businesses and international development nonprofits. That journey shaped his conviction that ethical business, when done well, can transform communities more sustainably than aid or charity alone. With more than two decades of experience spanning business and international development across multiple countries, Senthil believes that enduring solutions to society’s most pressing challenges require business to be part of the answer. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Fairtrade Australia New Zealand and sits on the Board of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID). He is an alumnus of Columbia University and a Fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University. Through his podcast, Business & Society, Senthil hosts grounded, practical conversations with some of the world’s most thoughtful scholars and practitioners, exploring how markets, public policy, and workplaces can be reimagined to build a more just and prosperous global economy.
